Description of Mecca

Mecca is the name of the city that first existed on this earth because prophet Adam was the first person to settle in this place. Then, from here his descendants flourished in all corners of the earth. When the prophet Adam first lived here, he asked God to be saved from the temptation of Satan who had tempted him in heaven, then the angels came down to earth around the place of the prophet Adam to keep the  Devil from reaching him. Since then, the place guarded by the angels became the limit of LAND HARAM MEKAH.
The city of Mecca has been developed and became very large today. but the Land of the Haram of Mecca will not extend because the limit has been set 7 kilometers from the north of the Al-Haram Mosque, approximately 13 kilometers  from the south, about 25 kilometers from westward and from the east, approximately 25 kilometers. This is where the Ka’bah  and Al-Haram Mosque were set by Allah, this is where hunted animals must not be hunted, trees must not be damaged, land and stones must not be taken out and non muslims should not enter.
The city is geographically located betweem 39-40 degrees east longitude and 21-22 degrees north latitude. The distance from the city of Jeddah is 74 kilometers, and from the city of Thaif 80 kilometers, from the city of Medina 470 kilometers and from the city of Riyadh 990 kilometers. The surface  of the city is uneven, many barren hills and rocks. The height of this land from sea level is about 280 meters.
In July and August the temperature in the city is very hot up to 54 degrees Celsius and in December and January it is very cold down to 10 degrees  Celcius. During the year  it is very rare to rain.
Coming to this city is an obligation for Muslims wherever he lives to perform Haji or Umrah, a kind of pilgrimage (at least once in their lifetime). Therefore, among those who finish the Haj, do not return to their homeland and settle here for their own reasons. So now we find many people who are not native Arabic, even though they speak Arabic.
To facilitate its visitors, the city of Mecca has now organized itself by constructing good roads that can be reached from all directions in the form of elevated roads, undergroumd roads, tunnels that continue to connect together with several ring roads. It also developed a network of communication through out the earth, so that from the roadside in the city you can contact your friends
anywhere with relatively cheaper cost compared to hotels in other countries.

My experience while in Saudi Arabia

My family and I left Bandung to Jakarta last year. We went together as a tour group, organized by Safari Suci. We arrived at the airport in the afternoon but out flight was later in the evening. We landed at The King Abdul Aziz Airport early in the morning the next day.
As soon as we arrived in Saudi, my family and I got dressed in Ihrom and headed to Mecca. We were all still sleepy and suffered from jetlag. We arrived in the hotel to check in and leave our luggage. Then, we went straight to Masjidil Haram to go around Ka’bah or Thawaf as it is called. Next, we did Sa’i, going back and forth two hills, Safa Hill and Marwah Hill seven times. Besides doing worship we also visited some historical places in Mecca such as Makkah Al Mukarramah Library, Jabal Rahmah, Masjid Jin and Jabal Tsur. We spent four days in Mecca before going to Medina. In Medina, we changed hotel. The hotel is as good as in Mecca, Movenpick hotel was its name. It was right accross the street from Nabawi Mosque. In the evening when my brother and i were hungry we ordered chicken Al Baik, which was very delicious. The next day we went to visit Masjid Quba and we prayed there. That was all we did in three days while in Medina. The next day we headed to Jeddah and stayed there one night. We spent the whole day in Jeddah doing shopping. I think shopping there was satisfying because the products were good but not too expensive.
Now it’s time for us to go back. We took an afternoon 9 hour flight back to Indonesia with Garuda. As soon as we arrived in Sukarno Hatta Airport we were glad & grateful because we landed safely in our country. We took a bus back to Bandung but we stopped for a meal and prayer. We enjoyed a nice dinner in Cijantung restaurant.
It was such a great experience I have ever had.
